iPhone Starbucks patent

I have not been able to confirm this but I hear Apple has patented a new service that will allow people to order their coffee from their iPhones in order for it to be ready when they arrive at Starbucks.

Huge Security Flaw in Windows Right Now

Microsoft just came out with a patch this past Tuesday to fix a huge flaw. It turns out your computer can be effected even with the Windows Firewall turned on. I think you are ok if you are behind a router but update Windows if you have not right now.

I am no way expert to explain the flaw but I do know what to do. Anyone with a Windows XP or Vista machine should update immediately. There is no know threat for this flaw but it wont stop people from creating an exploit for this flaw that can effect un-patched computers. UPDATE IMMEDIATELY!

It looks like the war is over, with WB switching to BluRay the major movie companies are offering their movies in BluRay. I think this is it, the format war is now ending. I think BluRay is the winner. I still think the cost of the movies is outrageous.

LG Wireless LCD TV at CES

I just got word that LG is going to be selling an LCD Wireless TV.

What does this do and why is this so cool? Well lets say you buy a huge TV and want to hang it on the wall and dont want to see all the cables from all the stuff you need to connect to your TV. Well dont connect any to the TV. What is supposed to happen is you are given a box that has all the TV connections and you connect all of your devices to it. The box you keep with all of your peripherals and it will talk to the TV and send the proper signals to the TV.

This is very cool but as we know from WiFi and cell phones, wireless connections dont always work 100% of the time. I am very interested to seeing what happens to this.

Flash Memory gets cheaper every day!

It was unheard of about two years ago to get the prices we do on flash memory today. I just got an email from PNY for a 2 GB Micro SD card for only $30. I remember the day when I bought one of the very first 2 GB Mini SD cards for $170. Link

The wonderful Mac Pros that are incredibly expensive just got a little more bang for your buck. Apple Inc has just announced that two, Intel Quad Core Processors will be the standard configuration for the Mac Pro. Now they just need to add Quad Core to the Mac Book Pros as standard. Im still waiting to see what comes out of MacWorld. Link

Finally, after eagerly awaiting, Microsoft has announced they will support 64 bit systems with their home server. I cant wait! There will be numerous updates too, to see the full report, click here.

So I have a Drobo but I may be selling it but only for a reason that most people wont care about.

Drobo is the worlds first Data Storage Robot that serves as a 4 drive external hard drive and promotes no data loss. Esentually it keeps two copies of your file on separate drives which is really cool. What is really cool is that you can even swap a drive Drobo is on and running. So if you want to upgrade a drive, just take it out and put in the new one. You must only do this on one drive at a time and wait a while before swapping another because when you took the old drive out, Drobo lost the second copy of your data and it will have to format and copy the files to the new drive. Status lights will tell you when this is finished.

Cons: No Network interface, Drobo is USB only. I am using Drobo as data backup even though it is not marketed that way. The Drobo folks would like you to use and rely on Drobo as your one device to store files not as backup.

And finally the reason I am not keeping it, it gets fairly loud. This would not normally be an issue for most who turn their computer off at night but I don’t for data backup reasons and I sleep in the same room as my computer.

Looking for some good noise canceling earphones? Well keep looking! I just got a pair of Etymotic noise canceling earphones and I am not sure if I like them.

I must say the noise canceling is pretty good.

The downside: I thought I would not mind but my ears don’t like the air pressure change after I put them inside my ears. This is ok though I could get used to.

Here is my biggest gripe! If you bump the cord you hear it in the earphones. I know you will with all but it is a pretty loud poof! I will use these a while check back.

I hear this is pretty good when it comes to in-ear noise canceling earphones so I might just have to go with over the ear. Thankfully I paid less than half for what they go for by making my purchase on ebay. Check them out for yourself at etymotic.com
