skydrive

Microsoft is competing for more online email users for their free email service so they are adding some cool features to their "Live" services. One feature, called SkyDrive, allows you to store up to 5Gb of files that you can store privately, share with the world, or share with select friends. This is a great way to ensure you don’t forget a file you are working on at home when you go to work. Forget homework assignments, try storing copies of your homework on SkyDrive. Oh and the best part, SkyDrive is free! Once in beta, SkyDrive looks like it is official and here to stay. If you would like to try SkyDrive out for yourself, go to: http://skydrive.live.com/

The Apple store was down today, the only updates… From what I can tell, Aperture 2 is available and Apple TV take two is available. Was Apple TV 2 already available? I cant remember. Where is that 3G iPhone and that touch on a MacBook Pro?

I have on just about every gadget I can get one for, a silicon protective case. Seriously, using them on my iPhone, Nano, iPod, Digital Camera, and more I am a firm believer of a silicon protective cases. A silicon case is a great and cheap way to protect your electronics. Silicon cases contour to your device, protect it from scratches, helps when you drop your gadget, and it still keeps the profile of your device without making it too much bigger. My most favorite thing about silicon cases is you can use your gadget with the case on. You don’t have to waste time taking your device in and out of a case. I don’t spend the money it costs in retail stores but I do pick them up online. For example, an iPhone silicon case costs around $20 or $30 from Apple but the same exact thing can be purchased on ebay for $8 and it comes with a screen protector.

Sceptre_X46BV

Looking for a good monitor for your computer setup? Look no further. I bought the Sceptre X24WG-1080P, 24 inch, 2 milisecond, widescreen monitor to replace my main 22" monitor and I probably would not write a review if I had not decided to use my old monitor as a second. What sold me was when I compared it to my what once was really expensive, NEC monitor that is about 3 years old. After viewing colors and a really true black I could not believe I had been using my other monitor for so long.

As far as gaming, the 2 milisecond response time is amazing. I played Crysis on this monitor and never noticed any ghosting at all. The monitor is full 1080P so I would emagine High Def movies would look amazing although I refuse to buy any HD format until a winner prevails. Looks like it will be BlueRay soon! All I need is DVI but the Sceptre included DVI and VGA. The actual resolution is 1920×1200 and the contrast ratio is 4000:1.

One other thing. I have my monitor mounted on the wall so it is not an issue for me but I hear this monitor is wobbly on it’s stand.

I have been using a ScottEVest Fleece 4.0 for about 6 months now and have since purchased a shirt and a sweatshirt from them. For those of you Geeks who don’t know what a ScottEVest is, shame on you. ScottEVest clothing has created and I believe patented the PAN or Personal Area Network. Basically, ScottEVest clothes have a ton of pockets for all your gadgets. Seriously, my jacket has 20 some pockets and I never use them all but they are really useful.

To start, all pockets have magnetic enclosures on them to keep your stuff secure if you don’t zip up the pocket. This magnetic enclosure also helps keep you gadgets positioned the same way you stick them in your pocket. This means your stuff stays closer to you and does not stick out when you move around. There is seriously a pocket shaped for anything I can think of and I think every Geek should try out ScottEVest once.

The only bad thing I can think of is Fleece is most common in the vests and sweatshirts. This keeps me warm but I would like another cotton option because my dogs hair is simply magnetized to the Fleece. The ScottEVest Fleece 4.0 is available for $100 @

Flash Memory gets cheaper every day!

It was unheard of about two years ago to get the prices we do on flash memory today. I just got an email from PNY for a 2 GB Micro SD card for only $30. I remember the day when I bought one of the very first 2 GB Mini SD cards for $170. Link

750 GB SATA 300 $150

Just like clockwork, after I spend $155, I find it cheaper. Although shipping makes it break even.

This is a good deal. 750 GB for $150 is a great price, I have yet to see cheaper. Prices on hard drives seem to not go lower than $50 for every 250 GB. You can get 500 GB for $100 pretty easy, 250 GB for $50 if you are really lucky, and now 750 GB for $150. Still the retail price on 1 TB drives remains high, they have not come down to $200 yet. Go to Outpost.com for this deal but time is essence, it wont be this price forever.

$1 Dummies Books

I was in Target yesterday and saw a rack of the infamous Dummies books only a smaller version being sold for $1.

Why does this matter or what does it have to do with tech. Well, they have some books on ipods and itunes, digital photography, and much more. Would have been cool to know this before Christmas but still a cool gift to give to someone just learning how to use an ipod or taking digital pictures.
